Wichita Shakespeare Company Presents Macbeth

The Wichita Shakespeare Company is proud to present Shakespeare’s Macbeth, directed by Kevin Sowers.

The Wichita Shakespeare Company (WSC) closes its 2022 Shakespeare-in-the-Park series with “Macbeth.”  One of the best known of Shakespeare’s tragedies, “Macbeth” tells the story of one couple’s deadly ambition to take the throne.   This adaptation of the play takes a dystopian future approach to the tale.  It is a cautionary tale of how greed, tyranny, and faith in the supernatural lead to destruction.

The play is directed by veteran WSC director Kevin Sowers.  Previous directing credits include “Twelfth Night” and “Two Gentlemen of Verona.” The impressive cast assembled for this production includes Jerry Wehry as Macbeth, Shanna Berry as Lady Macbeth, and Andrew Walker as Macduff. The supporting players are Jami Thomas, Alex Leigh, Esme Banuelos, Peter Emery, Chelsea Daniel, JunHoe Choo, Jordan Geer, Jeremy Buoy, Chris Welborn, Jill Nicole Herbert, Damian White, Elizabeth Anderson, Dalton Jay Nelson, Lori Brandon, Ila Phelps, Lorin Brandon, and Lana Jeppeson Carlson.

Shakespeare-in-the-Park will return to the very popular Riverside, Buffalo, and College Hill Parks for this show.  Parks in Andover, Park City, and Derby will complete the tour.  Additionally, a special inside performance will be held at University Friends Church. All shows will begin at 7:00 pm, with an approximate running time of two hours.  As always, the play is performed free to all audiences but donations are accepted and appreciated.  Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and, of course, bug spray.

In the event of inclement weather, there will be a message posted at 6 pm on the WSC line (316-655-2017) alerting if the show has been cancelled for that evening.

All performances are FREE to the public.
Donations are gratefully accepted.
All performances begin at 7pm
