Henry V
Presented by the Wichita Shakespeare Company
The Wichita Shakespeare Company (WSC) opens its 2017 Shakespeare-in- the-Park series with “Henry V.” Shakespeare’s best known History play features such famous speeches as “Once more into the breech…” and St. Crispin’s Day (“We few, we happy few, we band of Brothers..”).
The play is directed by first-time WSC director Abri Geist-Dennis. While a new director to us, Dennis has been a featured actress in several past WSC productions. The large impressive cast she has assembled for this production includes Trevor Farney as Henry, Matt Gurley as Pistol, Elizabeth Anderson as Exeter, and Claire Wehry as the Dauphin. Others in the cast include Sheena Monroe, Cat Connolly, Jewell Martinez, John Lloyd Stafford III, Heather Miller, Amy Shelden, Vonda Schuster, Jerry Wehry, Dan Schuster, Kevin Sowers, Erin Kay Warry-Reed, Janet Davis, Jeremy Buoy, Cora O’Brien, and Amanda Denning.
Shakespeare-in- the-Park will return to the very popular Central Riverside, Harvest, and College Hill Parks in Wichita. Parks in Andover, Park City, and Derby will complete the tour. Additionally, a special indoor performance will be held at the Wichita Scottish Rite Center. All shows will begin at 7:00 pm, with an approximate running time of one hour and forty-five minutes. As always, the play is performed free to all audiences but donations are accepted and appreciated. Those attending the park performances are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and, of course, bug spray. (Note: Seating will be provided for the indoor performance).
In the event of inclement weather, there will be a message posted at 6 pm on the WSC line (316-655- 2017) alerting if the show has been cancelled for that evening. Exact park and performance locations and dates are as follows:
